Tested Recipe!
[cooked-sharing]
Make brownie mix according to package, and spread batter in two 9 inch pans or on a 15 1/2 x 12-inch baking sheet. Bake 15 mins, cut into 24 pieces while warm.
Make red and blue marshmallows and arrange with white ones for a patriotic effect. For colored marshmallows: Dip in lukewarm water, shake off excess moisture and roll lightly in colored sugar - some red, some blue
*Reader Tip: A few years ago, a reader left a great tip about making these the day before, and then leaving them out for a few hours to get a crunchy crust on them like Peeps. I think that is a great idea!
Arrange brownies, chocolate bar squares, and marshmallows on a breadboard or in a basket. Put small American flags in several brownies here and there.
At the picnic, place a square of milk chocolate candy on a brownie. Toast marshmallow, and slip toasted marshmallow onto chocolate-topped brownie and cover with a plain brownie.
Yield: 2 dozen
