Marinade Sauce Directions
Combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup vinegar, 1 tsp pickling spices and a dash of garlic powder in saucepan and boil for 5 minutes. Strain liquid and pour while hot over cooked asparagus or other vegetables (except tomatoes) and let stand in covered dish in refrigerator overnight. Drain and arrange on salad platter according to color contrasts desired.
*Note: Add tomato wedges to salad platter just before serving. Tuna, chicken, or turkey - cooked - may be added to the marinade, if desired.
Sour Cream Sauce Directions
Combine ¼ cup sour cream with 2 tbsp lemon juice, ½ tsp of horseradish mustard, dash of aromatic bitters and salt and pepper to taste. Chill well before serving. Makes 4 servings.
