Thank heaven it’s Friday! And the best part about Friday? Time for cocktails!
This week we have Gypsy from the much loved 2-in-1 International Recipe Card Collection from 1977.
- 1 jigger vodka
- 1/2 jigger Benedictine
- 1 tsp orange juice
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Shake well with ice and strain over rocks into chilled Old Fashioned glass: garnish with orange slice.
And we got to break out the secret herbs and spices of Benedictine again this week!
As a side note, I actually had fun jamming a slice of orange in this one. Normally I have to painstakingly arrange the fruit slice on the edge of the glass, but this one was simple and fast. I might have to do that more in the future. Especially if a certain baby demands to be held during picture time.
“Well?”
“Meh.”
“Really? I thought you liked Benedictine?”
“It doesn’t really go that well with the vodka.”
The Verdict: Meh.
From The Tasting Notes:
The vodka and Benedictine didn’t really play off each other in this drink as much as in previous drinks. It ended up tasting a little bland, which was a shame.
Love that baby!
I want those glasses. Also, I’ve never tried Benedictine.
Baby is getting big! Love those chubby little arms.
Huh, the drink I know as a gypsy is a jigger of sweet vermouth and a jigger of gin. I did it here: http://www.curiouslylydean.net/2012/09/cocktail-of-the-night-gypsy/
I want that t-shirt.
Looks like I’m seeing some red hair?! So cute…
yes your baby is soooo cute! awwww
lol I think everybody is caught up with the baby, I did the same thing, I saw your little girl and said “awwwww!” she is SO cute!
Mmmmmmm, another yummy cocktail in your gorgeous retro barware. Your blog inspires me to add some cocktailness to my blog and site! I want to eat that baby up. YUM!
