We have another hot drink for you this week, and not just because I like showing off my awesome vintage hot/cold glasses!

This week we picked the “December” themed drink from the Merry Mixer, December Toddy. I was actually pretty excited about this one, because it had lemon in it. I LOVE putting lemons in my tea, so I thought this one might turn out really well.

Ingredients
  • 1 lump sugar
  • 1 slice lemon
  • 3 or 4 whole cloves
  • 1 jigger Old Schenley Bottled in Bond (Bourbon)
Instructions
  1. Put spoon in old-fashioned glass and fill with hot water.

We mixed it up and we were ready to go.

Except for the fact that this thing seriously smelled rank.

“What the heck is in this thing?”

“Nothing crazy. Just sugar, cloves, lemon and bourbon.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes!”

“Well…it smells like feet.”

“Just drink it.”

“Well. That tastes…interesting.”

“What does it taste like?”

“I’m not quite sure. It mostly just has a ‘vintage’ flavor.”

The Verdict: Rank smell, “Vintage” flavor

From The Tasting Notes:

Unusual flavor, not sure what to make of it. Sort of tastes like something that is really old. Not really my choice for a hot drink. Mostly because it smells horrible.
