It’s Friday and it’s time for a vintage drink!
Sloe Tequila
Author:
Ingredients
- 1 oz tequila
- 1/2 oz sloe gin
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
- cucumber peel
Instructions
- Put tequila, sloe gin, lime juice into blender and blend for 10 to 15 seconds. Pour into pre-chilled old fashioned glass. Add cucumber peel and, if desired, fill with cracked ice.
This week we have Sloe Tequila from the Playboy Bar Guide from 1971. And no, that isn’t a pickle, it’s just plain cucumber peel.
“How is it?”
“It’s okay. It smells better than it tastes.”
“Can you taste the cucumber?”
“No.”
The Verdict: Okay
From The Tasting Notes –
Not bad, but not great. It had a touch of sloe gin flavor, but mostly tasted like lime and tequila. It actually tasted like it was an less sweet version of margarita, which it was.

Sure looks yummy!
I love Firefly!! I must have that shirt!
The Sloe Gin Fizz was very popular in my youth in the seventies. One warning–sloeberries are a laxative and too many slow gin anythings has that effect.
